Privacy Policy

Forsight holds some of the most sensitive information a person owns. This policy explains, plainly, what we collect, how we use it, and the rights you have over it. The short version: we use your data to build your own dashboard, and we never sell it.

Section 01

What we collect

Account information
The details you give us when you create an account: your name, email address, and birth year. Your birth year is used to calculate your age for financial projections.
Financial data you connect
When you link a bank or brokerage through Plaid, we retrieve the data needed to build your dashboard: your transactions and your investment holdings, along with account metadata such as account names, types, and balances. We do not collect your Social Security number, your full legal name, or your account numbers, and we never receive your financial-institution login credentials.
Product and technical data
To keep the service working, we collect basic product analytics and error logs, keyed to your account. This helps us fix problems and improve the app. It is not used for advertising.
Cookies and analytics
We use cookies and similar technologies to keep you signed in and to understand how the app is used, through our analytics and error-monitoring providers. We do not use them for third-party advertising.

How we use your data

To power your own dashboard
The financial data you connect is used only to populate your private dashboard and projections. It is your data, presented back to you.
To operate and secure the service
We use account and technical data to run the service, keep it secure, prevent abuse, and provide support.
We never sell your data
Forsight does not sell or rent your personal information, and we do not share it with third parties for advertising. Ever.

Account linking through Plaid

Credentials never touch our servers
We use Plaid to connect to financial institutions. Plaid handles the credential exchange and encrypts the connection. Your bank or brokerage login is never seen or stored by Forsight.
Read-only access
Forsight requests read-only access. We cannot move money, place trades, or change settings at your institution.
Disconnect anytime
You can disconnect any linked institution at any time from the app. Disconnecting revokes Plaid's access to that institution on your behalf.

Who we share it with

Service providers only
We share data only with the vendors needed to run the service: our database host, our application host, our financial-account aggregator (Plaid), our transactional email provider, and our error and analytics processors. Each is bound by contract to use your data only to provide service to us.
Legal requirements
We may disclose information if required by law, or to protect the rights, safety, or property of our users or of Forsight.

How we protect it

Encryption
All traffic is encrypted in transit with modern TLS, and your data is encrypted at rest. Plaid access tokens are additionally encrypted at the application layer.
Database authorization
Every database query is gated by row-level security so your session can only ever return your own data, even in the event of an application bug.
No system is perfectly secure
We work hard to protect your data, but no method of transmission or storage is completely secure. We cannot guarantee absolute security, and you use the service with that understanding.

Section 06

Your rights over your data

Access and export
You can export a complete copy of everything we hold for you as JSON, at any time, from Settings.
Deletion
You can permanently delete your account from Settings. Deletion revokes every Plaid connection and removes your data from our systems, including our error and analytics processors, within 30 days.
Consent
You accept this policy when you create an account. If we make a material change, we will ask you to review and accept the updated policy.
California residents
If you live in California, you have the right to know what personal information we hold, to request its deletion, and to not be discriminated against for exercising those rights. Because we do not sell personal information, there is no sale to opt out of. You can exercise these rights from Settings or by contacting us.

How long we keep it

While your account is active
We keep your data for as long as your account is open, because the service is a running record of your finances. When you delete your account, we delete your data as described above.

Who can use Forsight

Adults in the United States
Forsight is available to U.S. residents who are at least 18 years old. It is not directed to children, and we do not knowingly collect data from anyone under 18.
